Look, I’m not bitter because I just dropped $15 on the Super Bowl. Okay…well, maybe I’m a little bitter, but that’s not the point. The point is I’ve seen better refereeing at high school games. Pitty’s Burg got all the calls, including some ghostlike ones. I only have two words to say: Congressional Investigation!

Let’s Count Up the Zebras Mistakes

1. The mysterious holding call on the initial drive when Seattle completes the pass inside the 20.

2. The imaginary “push off” call that took away Seattle’s first touchdown. My goodness, that “push off” was little more than a love tap. Besides, Pitty’s player was out of position.

3. Yeah, right – Ben scored and I’m Ms. America. The video clearly showed that Ben did NOT get in.

4. Oh my goodness, touchdown takeaway number 2. How is that NOT a touchdown when the receiver HITS THE PYLON?

5. The other mysterious holding call on the Seahawk pass completion inside the 3. WTF?

6. The “no call” on the illegal horse collar tackle that occurred right before the interception.

Bottom line, the zebras cheated and now I have to hear my wife’s mouth yapping, “You knew Pittsburgh was going to win.” Like she knows anything about football…Give me a break.

Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed. What's the point, I kept asking myself. I didn't even watch the whole thing. Halftime was wack, the advertisements were lackluster at best, and the game was pitiful with some very minor few exceptions.

To be honest, I don't know football at all. I watched over an hour of arena football before I realized it wasn't the super bowl. :o I kept watching this game on NBC, and because it was the steelers and the commentators kept talking superbowl I assumed it was the game. I called a friend about 2:20 and he amusingly noted that it was arena football, that the pre-game show hadn't even started yet. Whatever. In any case, I will never get the point of all of this. I should have just watched lifetime television like I really wanted to anyway.

That push off was a foul. But I agree with most of your other points. Besides, what can I say I am a sorry ass Jets fan! :D

You guys can trash Booker, put up Sharpe ads, whatever...but leave the Jets out of this. This is your last warning.

As a Stillers fan (Its "Stillers" out here to Yinz), I have to say "God was smiling at Pittsburgh last night! Yeah, we won that game due to forces beyond human comprehension. Ya know what...I don't care. This city was and still is totally electrified. I've never seen anything like it. Traffic last night at 11:30 was like rush hour. The bars were packed and Oakland (Pitt and Carnegie-Mellon) was alive with a bunch of college kids doing their underage drinking thing. Tomorrow is the rally and I hope to take an hour and walk down to the "Point" to see the Stillers and say goodbye to the "Bus"

I'm really not bragging though...this is one of the few times in 10 years that I've been proud to live in Pittsburgh. I truly miss HOME!

One last Pittsburgh musing...a lady at work recently asked me for some 25 year-old stock prices of the company that I worked with before going to Pittsburgh (the Pittsburgh company acquired the NJ company). I found most in my files but could not find any for a couple of years. I told her to call the Newark Public Library (I always found them helpful). She asked "do you spell it "N-o-r-k?" And "where is Nork?" Needless to say that Pittsburgh lady never met a Norker!

I want to start one to sue Mike Holmgren for costing me hundreds of dollars due to his idiotic coaching. The end of the half was an obvious mess... but their second missed field goal was worse. 2nd and 15-- facing a 54 yard field goal-- Holmgren calls for a deep ball down the left side? Are you kidding me? Run the darn draw play, throw a screen pass, or throw those 6-yard out patterns to your wide receivers that worked all first half. Whole game changes if they make one of those field goals.

Hey Maximus-- did you think Herm Edwards was watching in KC saying "I'll tell ya what, I would've handled the game just like Holmgren did." ;)

Then again, I'm the only Colts fan in the northeast, so I suffer alone.

I am a Giants fan. 16 years and counting since the last championship.

Jets fan!

Hey 5, you forgot about the RIDICULOUS "illegal block" below the knees penalty that they called on Hasselback right after he threw the interception. A 15 YARD PENALTY!!

Now explain to me how the guy who makes the tackle after throwing an interception gets flagged for an illegal block??? WTF?!? Why/who the h#ll would he be blocking?

Houseguest,

Oh my goodness, that call was horrible. Thanks for bringing it up. My whole thing is this: If you're going to give the Super Bowl to Pity's Burg, then why even invite Seattle? Just hand Coach Coward the trophy, have the parade, go to Disney and be done with it. We could have eliminated the middle man, bringing Seattle, altogether.

BTW - Longtime Giant fan that suffered through the early 80s when are WHOLE offense consisted of 3 plays: Rob Carpenter right; Rob Carpenter left; Rob Carpenter up the middle and then punt. Of course, there is no better feeling than beating Dallas. And there was no worse feeling than losing (again and again and again) to those friggin Randall Cunningham led Eagles. In fact, I remember one game (maybe it was the late 80s, early 90s) where we were playing the Eagles and they had a slight lead, but we were coming back. We had the Eagles backed up in their own End Zone and they had to punt. The QB, Cunningham, punted the ball from out of the End Zone and the darn thing went like 70 to 80 yards. I'm STILL like WTF? even after all these years. Needless to say, we did not win that game.

5, that Cunningham game was typical Giants. The G-men had knocked out the Iggles punter, forcing the use of Cunningham. If I am not mistaken, the punt was actually 90 yards. The more painful play was Banks drilling Cunningham for a 15 yard sack, and having Cunningham somehow stay on his feet and throw a touchdown.

That was Giants football though. Remember the Theisman game? I mean, the Giants are winning, they destroy the starting QBs leg, and then lose to a back-up QB.

Doofus,

You're right, that punt did go 90 FRIGGIN yards. I still can't believe it.

Of course, also HIGH UP on the pain list, I remember one game in the 80s against Dallas where we KNOCKED OUT the 1st string QB, then we took down the 2nd string QB ONLY TO LOSE THE FRIGGIN 3rd stringer. UGHGHGH!

Parcell's style. The Giants never had big wins. The offense was allowed to do just enough, and the defense had to hold the opposition. Parcells was successful, but it usually took only one big play for the Giants to lose a game. Remember the Flipper Anderson Rams game?

Nothing, however, is as painful as the Fumble. I watched that with my Dad. What a disaster. It ultimately led to George Young's hiring though.
