Where's the report? Is it published?

Where is the front page article on the audit? The SL never publicize the good that comes out of a situation that made headlines for weeks.

With that being said, I still believe that NHA has made several mistakes. I still believe that the conditions that some residents live in particulaly seniors are deplorable. Now I am not sure as to if HUD looked at those problems or was it strictly financial.

As far as our mayor is concerned, I believe he has made strides in "certain" areas during his time but the fact remains that he waited for years to start to make any progress.

Newark still has a hell of a way to go and I as a resident do not see the drug dealers off the street corners or homebuying initiatives for Newark residents or random drug testing for city employees or more rereational programs for our children or quality of life issues being enforced.

These are things that I believe should be priority in this City. As I said in numberous posts and I will say again, the arena seems to be the only thing on our administrations mind and it should not be. How can you invite people over and the house looks a mess?????

This is part of the point I was attempting to make in another thread when I mentioned the street vendors in downtown Newark. I have nothing against folks selling their wares for profit. But clean it up already. And there's a bit more being sold than CD's and incense, if you know what I mean. Anyone can see it. Why hasn't the facades of the businesses at Broad and Market been prettied up with one of those block grants that we certainly could have been granted during eight years of Bill Clinton? I'll say it again: Broad and Market looks terrible. Newark has this subterranean corporate culture that attracts thousands of suburbanites who never set foot on Newark's streets during the day. The office suburbanite won't walk around downtown Newark at lunchtime without an office escort, preferably someone from the "hood." I'm not condemning anyone; just making an observation. It isn't lost on Newark residents that the extra police you see downtown during the work week seem to vanish on the weekends.

Jazzy,

I'll tap my sources. I notice the forum shill, Counterattack, defended his master in a hurry, huh? You see, it is this sort of mindless devotion that prevents Newark from creating a true political discourse.

Am I a shill cause I beleive in facts not fiction? am I a shill cause I listen to both sides before forming an opinion rather than being biased? am I a shill because I Know this man has done more for the community than has been portrayed by the press? am I a shill because I don't want too tear down one of the few deceint black leaders that we have because he may have made a few bad decisions but has done nothing illegal. If this makes me a shill than I will accept that you on the other hand is a keyboard chump you sit behind your lil keyboard and type gossip that you can't prove and pretend you know what you are talking about but you never face the accused because you are a CHUMP!!!!!!!

Okay boys lets stop the namecalling.

Everyone on this forum has their own opinion. That is why I love posting each and every morning.

Now I have a question for counter... what makes Sharpe the great leader you portray??? Just a question so do not jump down my throat.

I don't think anyone on this forum dislikes Lucas for personal reasons, but rather for his decision making abilities and the timeliness of those decisions.

I don't know Lucas personally, nor do I care to, but he shouldn't have done what he done, when he done it...

To me it was worse, because we were always taught that as a minority you have to work four times as hard to make it, and when you do...you have to work ten times as hard to prove that you belong and deserve it. I feel and believe in my heart that he wa not working up to those standards when he decided it was necessary for him to have a plasma tele and a gold wastebasket in his office with the sacrifice of his hardworking subordinates. (Don't forget about the relatives who were kept on the payroll, even without tenure)

It could have been my own blood-brother who did the things that Lucas did, and I would have responded the same way.

At the same token, if the auditors found nothing wrong with what he did, and thought that it was perfectly legit and smart (which i don't think is possible), how come there was not one report expressing those very same sentiments.

I must admit, i didn't want to believe it, but it seems as though the Ledger only report on the negativity that newark reveals. For example, I have seen anything about the club that was started last week for teenagers and the success of it. I am going to assume since I didn't read anything about it that it was a positive function that the ledger decided was not a good enough read for our general public.

But to be perfectly honest....I don't think the auditors could say that there was absolutely nothing wrong with Lucas' decision in the wake of laying off all those people and considering how in disarray most of the housing units are in this city...

I know lucas' personally and he is an okay guy. I do not think his timing was right nor do i think the decisions he makes for the residents that he has full control over are right. and he knows this because I do not bite my tongue when it comes to right and wrong. with that being said, he does what he wants to do. There are so many ways to handle each situation that presented itself to the NHA and he has handled them wrong since he came back from d.c. He is not thinking of his residents that have to live with roaches and rats. he fired matintenance and security when the residents need it the most. how can he justify the decisions he has made when it has affected the residents so much???

5 did you here anything from your sources??? I know employees of NHA that would love to know.

I was looking on the HUD website and found nothing in regards to audits of NHA nor their financial reports.

I was also on the City of Newark website and our mayor's quote was We have razed outdated housing projects and replaced them with modern townhouses. I thought NHA was its own entity ;)
