Does anyone know what the timeline for getting the United Hospital re-operational? How long has the unit been inactive? It must be about 5 years, right? Can someone give me some info on this? Thanks.

The county will build a new hospital in Cedar Grove not at united Hospital. You should be aware that the county's portion was burglarized heavily and may just be sold. The Doctors who own the other half just lost in court when trying to force Essex to relocate instead of building a new hospital. Since they lost the situation there is a mess. The county will probably just sell their portion.

Does anyone know what happened to the medical records from hospital stays, clinics, etc. at United/Presbyterian Hosp?
My daughter had a life threatening illness in 1990 and was treated there before being transferred elsewhere because she needed to be in isolation.

You should contact the state Department of Health.

Depending on her age, the only keep records for 2yrs beyond the legal age of 21 (so that would be when the child turns 23 years). Now that is just the LEGAL record retention for medical records. With the hospital closing and no other hospital taking on its records. There is really no telling if the files have been destroyed or not. The state department of health in trenton should be able to GUIDE you in the right direction.

Also if you contact the other facility they may have a copy of the record from United.
