Will this country have the courage to get rid of this miserable failure? This makes 3 NEWARKERS that have been killed for the lies and wars of Bush.
Let's take a moment to remember the victims of 9/11. BUT LET'S ALSO REMEMBER that this 200 BILLION dollar waste of money in Iraq has NOTHING TO DO with 9/11.

I too honor those innocent people who died in during 9/11 but I also can't for the life of me understand the ignorance of Americans who blindly support and follow a fool just because he is the President. We are laughed at around the world as being overtly gullible. We believe in Santa Claus, that JFK was killed by one man alone and that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. How we went from 9/11 to Sadaam Hussain still cracks me up. But we dumb Americans believe the hype. I bet you those poor people who were killed in 9/11 are turning over in their graves.
In honor of those who died in 9/11, we need to send that non-speaking, stuttering, fake cowboy, back to Texas with his daddy in November.

I heard it posited on Air America radio, that the less than stellar public school system in America helps reinforce a lack of critical thinking. Americans sit for hours in front of cable t.v. screens and computer monitors and swallow everything that the powers that be beam into our homes.

Over the past couple of months; I've seen and heard so many different accounts of these guys history, that it is almost enough to cause me not to vote this coming November. The one thing that I hate about politicians is that they are all for themselves and the betterment of their lives. Although that is fine; at some point they should try and do what is best for this country and its citizens by just being honest and ethical.
I strongly believe that had Bush not be handed the Presidency, we would have had a 85% chance of not being acted on 9/11. i strongly believe that he is responsible for that tradegy, and still to this day he hasn't redeem himself.
I think it was Prosouth who said it, but it is ironic how we went from 9/11 to Iraq. Yeah we are fighting terror, but we let the one guy that did attack us roam free while we attacked and ousted a weak threat.
Wow, this country is so tough!

If this wasn't real life I would like to see him stay in power just to see how he and his cronies deal with the mess they've created. Of course, it is real life, so he must go.
This country needs a new system of government which actually allows for greater representation of divergent points of view. We need to have more viewpoints vetted so that the public can have a real discourse instead of two smoky-filled room visions of the future from two institutionalized parties which are more inclined to continue with the status quo.
At the very least we need a Democratic Party that is not afraid to stand up and say yes there are class differences in America that need to be addressed by the federal government. That there is honor in being a liberal. That liberalism brought us social security, unemployment insurance, workers' rights, 8-hour days, affordable mass transportation, and probably kept this country from going communist or facist back in the day from when some business were even paying employees in scrip that could only be redeemed at an overpriced company store. I am sick of the pandering to this "you too can be rich" mentality in America that never was. I'm sick of red states which were born in subsidy dictating a rugged invididualism that they never had.
My wish list... well let's start with legislation that would force all electoral college members to vote for whom the people actually said they wanted (we vote for electors who could, at least in theory, vote for ANYONE (e.g., Candidate Y when you actually elected the elector to vote for Candidate X). We need to pass laws to prevent "winner take all" in presidential elections, which in effect nullifies the vote of up to 49% of any state's given population. We need to examine Lani Guinier's idea of proportional voting http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20001204&s=guinier .
Lastly, my wish list would scrap the federalist system and move toward a parliamentarian style system, which is more democratic and less obfuscating when it comes to exchanging ideas in the public. You will have people who feel passionately about issues actually able to have a seat in Congress instead of being relegated as being to extreme for the whole of America (this would take a rewriting of the Constitution, which although I'm less than comfortable with, would truly make America great).

I found 2 who were killed in Iraq from Newark. If anyone knows of any more please post their names.
1. Spc. Yoe M. Aneiros, 20, of Newark, N.J., died in Sadr City when his patrol vehicle came under attack by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades.
2. Sgt. Humberto F. Timoteo, 25, of Newark, N.J., died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.

That is definitely too many to support a company like Haliburton. We have to do all we can to insure that Bush returns to his ranch in TX.
The question is how do we educate the poor and middle class that for some reason cannot see that voting Republican is not in their best interests. I received a message last night from my brother who lives in TX. The message was about this guy who received an award from the president and how wonderful the president is. I searched the Whitehouse.gov site in search of information on the award but could not find anything. I sent my brother a very nasty message about spreading lies.
The funny thing is that we grew up poor in upstate NY. My mother worked long hours at low pay to put a roof over our heads and food on the table. That's all she could do. We relied on charity for clothing to wear to school. I don't know how many times people asked me where I got a particular shirt and stated how it looked like one they used to have. It was embarrasing to say the least. My mother Itaught me a work ethic that has served me well over the past few decades.
I've done the best out of my family and I have helped my brothers over the rough spots in theirs. I recently sent the one I spoke of above some money for rent because his job was outsourced to Mexico last month and he hasn't found anything yet.
I did ask him not to send any more Bush propaganda until he could explain to me why he would support someone who is so totally against him.

Food for thought:
Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffee pot with water to prepare
his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-
hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his
first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His
medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal
fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.
All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical
plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for
paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning
breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some
girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing
industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is
properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total
contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know
what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe
dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes
is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws
to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway
station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him
considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some
fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation,
which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his eight hour work day, another benefit garnered from
those commie liberal unions. He has a good job with excellent pay,
medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some
lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working
standards. Joes employer pays these standards because Joe's employer
doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker
compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't
think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
Its noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some
bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some
godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous
bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-
market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that
Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and
earned more money over his lifetime.
Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at
his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His
car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating
liberal fought for car safety standards.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live
in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers
didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity
until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't
belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives
on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking,
cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe
wouldn't have to.
Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk
show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and
conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved
Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe
enjoys throughout his day.
Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our
lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should
take care of themselves, just like I have"

I had to send this to everyone I know. It makes you think of what these Repuglicans are really saying when they put down liberals.

I promise I won't make a habit of it, but I wanted to share these thoughts I wrote going on 4 years ago! :) Haven't changed much, huh?! :D  "Newarkmyhome" was my original screen name, the same name I had on NJ.com before never looking back after the launch of Newarkspeaks.
**NOTE TO ADMINISTRATOR, I DO NOT POST ON "NEWARKMYHOME," AS YOU CAN SEE. FEEL FREE TO RESTRICT ACCESS, IF NECESSARY, BUT DON'T BAN ME!**
Aside from a few editorial letters to the defunct Elizabeth Daily Journal and the Star-Ledger, I almost never wrote down my constant musings on Newark, the greater society, and the black experience until Newarkspeaks. Now, after some 1700 posts under my original moniker and 4000-plus under the new name I chose when I returned from a stint away from Newark, MNC, I have what amounts to a cyberspace journal of all those passionate thoughts.
I appreciate all the writers who post in the best tradition of Newarkspeaks. We talk real good! :D
5reasons, is there a link to the latest death you refer to?
To the other posters who say "we must send Bush back to Texas in November", you do know he isnt running, right?

One of the things that I will find interesting sometime in the future is coming up with a list of the five -seven worst presidents in our history and listing their legacies. Bush will certainly be on that list.
As much as Ronald Reagan put this country on the backward decline (btw-he will not be on that list), one thing his administration took credit for was establishing the United States as a highly respected nation (of course Reaganites will also argue that Ronnie was the main reason for the fall of Eastern European communism, which is highly debateable). Well, whatever respect the United States had in the world has been completely lost with the Bush administration. And I can go on and on and on.......
I will say that in my lifetime, beginning with IKE and including the infamous Nixon and the ineffective Carter, Bush is #1 for the WORST.

There is little satisfaction in the idea that Bush is or will be considered the worst president we have had. In fact, the idea is the opposite of consoling.
The good news about it all perhaps though, is that if it wasn't for Bush, Obama would not be anywhere close to where he is presently at. Bush being so bad might cause the country to go in a good direction.
It is incredible how most of the people of this country have been asleep about Bush and about Iraq, but are slowly waking up.
Ms. Tam Tam, it is much worse than the idea of a less than ideal public school system. The educational system is an attempt to create foot soldiers and ignorant people like we now have that populate this country. People with no brains and really an inability to think, and an inability to see the whole picture.
In fact, it is so bad, that the idea that people have become like grazing animals, just looking up while grazing. We have an inability to think and act. We now show bovine behavior and intelligence. Just graze while incredible Big Brother stuff is taking place around us.
I figured that alot of this is related to the 'compartmentalization' of American life. The stripping of roots, the loss of roots, and the taking of power away from families.
