Newark Officials: City Land Possibly Used For Neo-Nazi Rallies
WNBC-TV
updated 1 hour, 26 minutes ago
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Newark officials said Thursday that a part of the city's watershed land in Morris County may have been used for Neo-Nazi rallies. An official told News 4 New York that during an investigation of illegal dumping on the city land, evidence of swastikas and burn pits were found. A spokesman for Newark said the city is "saddened" by the development, and is taking steps to make sure possible rallies don't take place in the future. Jefferson Township police are taking the lead into this investigation.

Felled trees, painted swastikas in Jefferson prompt investigation
Posted by cjrothma May 01, 2008 14:48PM
The Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corp. is investigating who is responsible for cutting down trees and spray painting two swastikas on their property in Jefferson.
"The watershed, along with the City of Newark, does not condone such displays of discrimination on our property," Executive Director Linda Watkins-Brashear said in a statement today. "We are very saddened by this, and we're currently taking precautionary steps to ensure this type of situation does not happen again."
The site is located about a quarter of a mile off Cross Road in a wooded area that is part of the 35,000 acres overseen by the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corp.
A hiker alerted authorities to the situation last week, when he found a dozen felled trees arranged on stumps around a campfire, forming makeshift benches. There were also ATV tracks and beer cans, police said.
Police who visited the site today said they do not consider this a bias crime and will not be conducting an investigation.

These posts made me think of the 1970s blaxploitation pic Three The Hard Way (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072284/).

I am sure the Jewish residents in Jefferson are happy about the neo-nazis as well. That faction is an equal opportunity hate group.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the number of hate groups in America has increased since last year. This is the SPLC's link to a list of hate groups in New Jersey and their areas of domain:

The cutting of trees and other damage done is apparently out of line. But I'm certain, that with the proper permits, the ACLU will tell you that the Neo-Nazis have a right to congregate.* As the news report indicated, the police do not consider it a bias crime and will not be investigating the incident. The "rally" sounds like it was a late night beer blast/pig roast.
* From Wikipedia: <<In 1977, the ACLU filed suit against the Village of Skokie, Illinois, seeking an injunction against the enforcement of three town ordinances outlawing Neo-Nazi parades and demonstrations. Skokie, Illinois at the time had a majority population of Jews, totaling 40,000 of 70,000 citizens. A federal district court struck down the ordinances in a decision eventually affirmed by the Supreme Court.>>

Very revealing about how some people in this country use there energy. It's enough to make me sick.
Thanks for this link. What a mess.
Makes me want to move to South Dakota. Only State with no hate groups.

Just b/c the ACLU supports, it doesn't make it right.

If they're defacing our land, can you imagine what they're putting in the water? Don't think they don't know it's for "Newark."

It might not be right, but it could be legal. Look, I'm not defending the Skinheads.
Hey, check out the Newark Watershed's website. Since the last time I looked at the site, they've added these really funky musicial numbers. If you click on the links at the top, practically every page has its own musical selection.

Does Separatist= hate? What types of hateful acts have the new Panther Party committed? I know that certain religious groups, such as the Nation of Islam's main concern is their community and empowerment of Black folks, but what hateful crimes have they committed?

LOL, 5. But it can't be any worse what is there naturally. After all doesn't a bear ___ in the woods? Fortunately, the water is treated before it reaches the tap.

I guess it depends on who the KKK is influencing. I'm just puzzled as to why they would use the word "hate" to describe the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panther Party.
Do you have any idea why they use the word hate to describe those two groups?

Any person that believes he/she is superior over others is wrong. If you don't recognize that, you are part of the problem and not the solution.
