View Full Version : Ledger Bias
Absolutly bizzare headline in the Ledger, stating "All Devils Fans Don't Like Newark"
http://www.nj.com/devils/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/112754000190520.xml&coll=1
As it turns out-- there were two complaints... out of 175 PEOPLE at a "town meeting" held by the team. For those of you counting, that's .01%, or a tenth of one percent. Yet-- that was the headline? That's piss poor journalism.

Obviously the very ones pushing for the move is having some issues with Newark as a whole
After hearing from two fans who furiously opposed a move to Newark for logistical and safety reasons, Vanderbeek appealed to ticket-holders not to believe preconceived opinions that knock the plan. He said there would be easy access by car from Route 78, adequate parking and a light rail system that will take eight minutes to reach the arena from Penn Station.
Easy in and Easy OUT!
I read that as you have an easy way in and out just in case the crap hits the fan!!! Don't worry outsiders we are having enough dealing with our own to have any focus on you!

Gee, no one asked me. Personally, I'm loving it. I can walk 5 minutes instead of paying $10 bucks after driving through traffic to see a weekday game.

The light rail will be extended from Penn to the Arena? Since when? And it will take 8 minutes? I walk that every day in less than five minutes, and I'm fat.

It won't be unless MOS-2 is funded. That's the line from Newark Penn to the Airport. It would run on Mulberry to Lafayette, then down Broad to the Airport. There would be a stop at the Arena, obviously.
However, for M&E and Montclair/Boonton riders, the NCS extension that is going to open by early 2006 will make it easier to get to the Arena. It would only be a short walk from Penn Station.

I worked on NERL and I know that the link to EWR is far, far from being reality. Not cool if they are using it as a selling point for the arena.

I worked on the original traffic study back in the early '90s.

Let me guess: you concluded that traffic is going to continue to get worse! :D

If I said it would get better I wouldn't have a job!
