This HBO documentary is riveting and disturbing. It will make you frustrated and angry. You will want to scream and also cry. You will be very afraid for the future of America. You will see that not all death sentences are carried out in this nation's prisons. You will see a system so broken it can't even fake it anymore. You will know, as as I did, that children must be taught up from the level of their comprehension, no matter how low, and that to continue to "promote" children who operate on a 5th grade level through high school should be a criminal offense. You will see that the "system" does not allow for anything else. You will agree that children who consistently disrupt the daily learning process of a school, ought to be removed. You will see a school abandoned of parents and guardians. You will meet children who have neither.
It is a mirror of what is occurring in many urban public schools across America today:

....in July 2008, CNN will air Black in America; it will defintely be a show worth the watch
Did you know that companies in the US have said, they would hire a white man with a felony record and no high school education BEFORE they would hire a black man with NO criminal record and a 4-year degree?
Sounds like BS; doesn't it! Check this link out...

Just by reading the article this school should be taken over. Two-Third of the teachers are not certified. Where are the advocates in this community. I will never understand how and why parents do not step up to the plate and find out what their children are learning. My grandmother didn't make it passed the 3rd grade and my mother didn't go pass junior h.s. but they made sure we were doing what we where suppose to do in school. My grandmother is the reason why I pass out information and keep people informed about their rights. You don't need to be a college graduate to understand you have rights.
I feel sorry for this situations because instead of the state taking over they are busy monitoring the situation. It's apparent they don't have it under control.
