Make Newark Clean

Did he ever really answer the "now what" part? :D

A very well written speech. Words are powerful.

If President Obama institutes a new "New Deal," will it really work in our cities beset with drug trade violence? And since Obma likely will be foreclosed politically from making any substantial amendment to gun control (which IMHO wouldn't end gun violence anyway), I sure hope he tries to tap into the growing nationwide consensus toward creating a sensible harm-reduction policy (http://www.harmreduction.org/). He can call on his supporter, Jim Webb, of Virginia (http://www.thenation.com/blogs/edcut/331478/jim_webb_tackles_our_tangled_drug_policy), to help lead the charge. It still will involve massive education, especially in myth-minded cities like Newark, where too many of our good citizens think that, for example, a needle exchange invites upstanding citizens to do drugs (at best; worst, some believe it subverts "divine will" because such intervention perhaps saves an addict's life). We must move beyond anger at those who cause the destruction in order to minimize its wake. I'm ready to go to work.

Last, I appreciate Relese, Mayor Booker. Who knew. Relese aside, however, if a black President doesn't act on the underpinnings of what has one out of every three black men born today headed for prison (http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/02/29/america/29prison.php) (most incarcerated for nonviolent drugs offenses; they didn't even use the guns the trade proliferates), I will be sorely disappointed and will work for Obama's ouster in the next election cycle.

This Mayor is all about publicity. He reinvent himself in order to be out there in the public.

I wonder how much better Newark will be if Mayor Booker invest as much energy in working for our city as he does trying to be all over the spotlight???

Ramos have you made up your mind yet, are u running in 2010?? The city needs you brother. Just look at what happened in the Central Ward, Booker's money does not win elections...

Michael Aaron, a New Jersey Network reporter, actually asked Booker to respond to critics who contend that he is spreading himself too thin. That he (Booker) spends too much time and energy on the national publicity circuit as opposed to focusing foremost on governing Newark.

What was his answer?

What was his answer?

As I recall, he didn't think it was a problem.
