The suspects, wearing vests that read "Police," stepped out of a black four-door Ford Crown Victoria with emergency lights, at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, said Newark Detective Todd McClendon.

The incident happened on the corner of Crittenden and Rowland streets, near McCarter Highway.

The suspects demanded money, then stole about $1,200 from the victim. They scrambled back into the car, with New Jersey license plate number MG45285, police said.
