In the comments section, someone noted that Newark should have some extra cash laying around from the money budgeted for snow removal this winter. (Yeah, right! That money is going for Vanderbeek's new Zamboni.)
OUTRAGE: Newark Residents Hit With $187,000 Police OT Bill For Whitney Houston Funeral Locals Say Considering How They Were Treated, The Cost Is Hardly Justified Whitney Houston's funeral is costing the city of Newark tens of thousands of dollars in police overtime. And some taxpayers say as much as they loved the pop star they're not happy about footing the high security costs. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/04/...uston-funeral/ |

Yes there should have been some police protection but pass this bill directly to the estate of Whitney E. Houston and lets get our tax money back. She did not own propert in this town. Sissy has been long gone from Newark...No other resident in this city would have received 1/4 of this type of protection, hell we dont even receive proper police protection from the regular crap of drug dealers and gun shots.

Yes maybe SOME police presence was needed but when these celebrities travel, they have their own personal security that make sure they are not being harassed.
It was a funeral, they were invited and should have made arrangements for the one on one door to door service they received. I mean these people got escorts to and from the airport while somebody im sure in Newark was robbed, gunned down, and or waited for hours if they came at all for police assistance. The kids in this city cant even go to school and feel as safe as these people felt on that day. I believe the family should have paid the bill for the red carpet service they received. She may have been Newarks own but she sure charged a fee when she did concerts anywhere near Newark, just as Cissy will when she heads over to the Pru Center for her gospel fest...... Bend over Newark... |
